STATEWIDE NH NOTIFICATION ASSOCIATION

Next Meeting 3rd Wednesday in September. Preliminary plans are for CFR @ MHT.

STATEWIDE NEW HAMPSHIRE
NOTIFICATION ASSOCIATION
P.O. BOX 873
AMHERST, NH. 03031

Last Meeting May 19,2009 - 3rd Wednesday of Month

Salem NH Central Station

The Annual meeting of the Statewide New Hampshire Notification Association was held Wednesday, May 19th, 19:00 at the Salem Fire Headquarters, 152 Main St in Salem. There was Burgers and Hot Dogs PIZZA Available.

Reminder to all members that the annual dues are also to be in by the Meeting date. Please bring your dues or mail them in ASAP.

One of the topics of discussion at the Salem meeting was Radio Protocol, in particular our platform system.

If there is an active event going on our radio system, most likely a member has the "platform", that is, has the roll of control operator over that event and any other events that might come up during the first event.

The control operator / platform has control over radio traffic and shall direct and delegate as they see proper.

If you as a member suddenly have an event or inquiry but discover there already is another event ongoing, your task is to inquiry if there is a control operator, and direct your traffic/inquiry directly to the control operator. DO NOT CALL OUT INQUIRIES WHILE OTHER MEMBERS ARE DISCUSSING THE PRIMARY EVENT.

This is not theory. We had an incident after the Salem meeting, an incident in which this protocol was broken. If you have not had your radio on for at least five minutes to get a "size-up" of radio traffic, you show a breakdown in protocol by making a low level inquiry into another incident. Specifically, smoke showing from an unknown source in Rockingham County does not trump an ongoing "radio active" MVA/HazMat in Cheshire County.

As was pointed out at the Salem meeting, there is still need for improvement in our radio protocol.

    JANUARY 2008
Wilton-Lyndeborough-Temple EMS based in Wilton, NH currently covers the Towns of Wilton, Lyndeborough and Temple with dispatch from two different dispatch centers. Wilton calls are dispatched by MACC Base in Milford on 155.100 as 30A1 or 30A2, Lyndeborough calls are dispatched by KMA SWNH on 154.43 as 82A1 and 82A2 and Temple calls are dispatched also by SWNH on 154.43 as 50A1 and 50A2. When the ambulance is toned to Wilton calls, they come up on the SWNH frequency to advise that they are on a call to Wilton, and visa versa when they go to Lyndeborough or Temple they go up on the MACC Base Frequency and tell them the same. This is to avoid both dispatch centers trying to send out the same rig.

This came about because the towns of Lyndeborough and Temple use SWNH for their Fire Dispatch and wanted the Ambulance on the same frequency, while Wilton is a member of MACC Base and continues to use them for all departments.

The pumper truck was previously owned by the Boylston MA Fire Department. The plan is to keep the pumper truck on the west side of the Ammonoosuc River. With the weight limit restrictions placed on the Bath Covered Bridge, it is imperative to have an emergency vehicle that can be on the ready on the west side of the River.
