In early October the board of directors met at the Pinardville Station in
Goffstown. At that point the board proposed and accepted a motion to
investigate the selling or turning over our physical radio repeater
assets on Pack Monadnock to a yet to be determined radio shop. This
would be in lieu of Statewide being financially liable for any radio
repairs that may arise in the nearly 20 year old repeater. The two
existing other users on the repeater would switch hands from the
current site manager to the selected radio shop.
As of this time, a radio shop has been selected to enter into an yet to be drawn up agreement
with.
Our November board meeting took place this past Thursday evening (Nov
4) at Merrimack Station 4.
At this meeting the board agreed in principal to a unification of
membership between NH Statewide and FireComm-NH.
In general FireComm members will be invited to apply to NH Statewide
for membership. The current FireComm repeaters, already under the
management of Beltronics of Hollis NH, would be available to NH
Statewide as part of the Statewide radio system.
Directors meeting notes:
Wednesday April 14, 2004
A regular board of directors meeting was held in Manchester.
In attendance were John Bolduc, Rick Todd, Dave Barker and John Gasper.
Absent were Dick Harrington and Tim Cullinan.
The status of S-1 and S-2 repeaters were discussed. S-1 is due for license renewal this July. S-2 is currently licensed and not due for renewal for some time.
The board felt that the S-2 repeater needs to be replaced. The option of buying a used repeater in the area of $800 and not to exceed $1000 was discussed. Dave Barker will investigate this matter. The wisdom of buying a used versus new repeater was briefly discussed. It was noted that the site of the S-2 repeater is very populated with of transmitters and is very prone to interference. A careful selection of a replacement repeater, due to the interference hostile environment on Mt. Uncanoonuc, is considered a necessity
Director John Gasper tended his resignation, effective May 1st. John is retiring and moving to sunnier climates.
Director Dick Harrington is expected to tend his resignation in the very near future, as he is also retiring and planning on doing extensive traveling.
President Dave Barker is stepping down from the presidency effective immediately. Dave will stay on as a director-at-large during a transition period. during which a new board member will be sought.
The current SOPs were noted to be very much in need of overhaul. An organizational charter and by-laws need to be in place in additional to SOPs. The currents SOPs mostly address incident reporting procedures and only generally address the governing of the association.
The need to incorporate the association was discussed. There is a very real concern that individually the directors were at risk and liable should any legal action be taken against Statewide. The cost of incorporation and related registrations were thought to amount to about $1200 annually. This would require a considerable increase in member or membership dues to cover.
A membership drive and possible incentives were discussed.
The possibility of assigning Rick Todd to position of chairman and John Bolduc as secretary was discussed, and is pending input from those directors not in attendance.
The date of the next meeting of the board of directors is undetermined. The next general meeting of the general membership was verified to be May 19, 2994 in Deerfield at 19:00 at the center station.
Brief notes from General Meeting Deerfield NH May 19,2004
Over a dozen members and visitors were in attendance a this evenings meeting. Dick Harrington SW51 made his retirement from the board of directors official at this meeting. SW 89 Mark Lemay has been appointed to the board of directors.
Plans to make Statewide a more formal organization were discussed and approved. This process will initially have considerable financial impact. The repair or replacement of the s-2 repeater has been given a conversably lower priority.
Dear Members & friends,
New member numbers assigned:
February 2004 - CAR 95
March 2004 - CAR 63
The Meeting in Milford Thursday March 18, 2004 saw double digit attendance, including members and general public. A quick tour of MACC base was included as part of the meeting. The dispatch center has two parallel dispatch stations. This evening console was manned by the dispatch supervisor and a brand new dispatcher. The senior dispatcher left it up to the new dispatcher to explain the setup, even though she was entirely unprepared to do so. It made for a awkward tour.
The meeting resumed back at the fire station. One item was proposed at the meeting for a vote. A measure was put forward by SW91 to donate $75.00 towards the Dave Hilton Memorial which is being planned at the Mount Agamenticus Fire Tower in York Maine. The proposal was passed unanimously by acclamation.
SW60 provided a recap of the recent Garden Street School fire
A reciprocal agreement with Merrimack Valley was discussed. It was the finding of the board that an agreement is already in place, from several years ago, although seldom used and not widely known. Clarification with Merrimack Valley is underway, and reaffirmation of the agreement with be brought up a the directors meeting in April.
It was noted that several checks had been received for membership renewal over the past week. This is an encouraging sign.
The current repeater situation with Statewide S-1 and S-2 was discussed. Some improvements in quality and administration of each were discussed during the meeting, and at length after the meeting.
The site for Nashua's new station for on East Hollis Street was brought up by the new SW63 during general discussion
SW69 made note of the point that perhaps some past members of Statewide felt they were not getting enough out of the group to stay involved. The point was firmly made that "you get out of the group what you put into it".
