There are many towns not in the list in Coös county that are unincorporated and sparsely populated. Many of these are former logging communities, past havens for utopian societies, or in colonial times potential college sites. Long names such as Atkinson & Gilmanton Academy Grant dot the county. One such place worthy of note is Dixville. It is here at 00:01 hours every election that the first presidential votes are cast.
