In Brief

February 2005 - Fire Academy Library

Many of us have books, papers and photos that will be of great interest in the future. I am suggesting that you contact the NH Fire Academy and give them your unused books photos and Department Histories. I have already given some older books with drawings of old antique hand tubs, history for the Peterborough Fire Depart, I had many books showing equipment of yesteryear coffee table book of all the known fire marks at that time.

I think training books and code books would be nice.

PLEASE CONTACT THE fire academy SO WE CAN ESTABLISH A GOOD LIBRARY OF FIRE RELATED MATERIAL AS IT PERTAINS TO OUR TOWNS.

THIS IS ON MY OWN BUT YOUR HELP IS NEEDED

A Fundraising Benefit will be held on Saturday February 19th, 2005 to assist a Lowell, MA family with Medical Expenses following a serious sledding accident that has left their 6 year old son, Shawn Clougherty, seriously injured from a snowstorm sledding accident that occurred on January 8th at Shedd Park in Lowell, MA. The 1st grade student at Bailey Elementary School in Lowell, MA remains in critical condition and in a coma at Children's Hospital in Boston after crashing head-first into a stone wall while sledding. The child has serious injuries after the crash impact crushed the crown of his skull causing an arterial hemorrhage and fracturing the verterbrae in his neck. His hospital stay and rehabilitation is expected to be a very long, extended process.

Obviously, during an extended hospital stay and expected long-time rehabilitation, insurance limits and expenses begin to be an obstacle in the care and rehabilitation of the child- any and all funds will be used to help defray these costs.

February 2005 -- Helicopter Added to DHART
February 25, 2005 -- Lebanon -- Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center is adding a helicopter and paramedics to meet the growing demand for its air emergency services. The Dartmouth-Hitchcock Advanced Response Team, or DHART, has had to refuse dozens of requests for air transport in the last year because its helicopter was out on another call, prompting hospital administrators to lease a second helicopter that should be ready for operation in April.

Hudson NH Radio System Grant
January 2005 - Hudson Police gets $200,000 grant help pay for radio system The department is planning on spending $399,000 towards a new VHF digital radio system. Having received a $200,000 homeland security grant from the state, voters in March, will be asked to pay for the remaining $199,000.

If voters support it, installation of a new system would be planned for July

A warrant article to combine police and fire communication systems and renovate the police dispatch center failed last March. This failed article would have included moving fire dispatch and replacing police radio equipment.

However, the eventual goal of the departments is to consolidate their dispatch operations into one.
