Saturday Sept 17, 2005 - Gray Maine

Take some candy, ice cream, hot dogs and hamburgers. Throw in a parade, a firefighters' muster and some games, and you have the perfect ending to summer.

Gray Fire-Rescue will celebrate 125 years of service to the Town with a celebration on Saturday, September 17, starting with an afternoon parade and ending with fireworks at Spring Meadows Golf and Country Club.

Hosted by the Gray Fire-Rescue Association and the Gray Fire-Rescue Department, the day begins at 1:00 P.M. as the parade steps off from Gray Park and heads north on Shaker Road to the Gray-New Gloucester High School grounds.

Firefighters' musters for both adults and children are planned at the Middle School immediately after the parade. Visitors can take part in a series of games and fun events for children, such as a beanbag toss, a "moon walk" and a dunking booth, sponsored by Gray Parks and Recreation with help from the Gray-New Gloucester Optimists Club.

All events will be at the school grounds on Libby Hill Road, with parking at the High School lot or at the Fire Department's Central Station on Shaker Road.

Shaker Road will be closed from Gray Park to Libby Hill Road from 1:00 P.M. to no later than 3:00 P.M. for the parade. Signs will be posted for a planned detour across Weymouth Road, and fire-police will help the State Police and the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department direct traffic on the detour.

The day ends with a brass band and fireworks at Spring Meadows Golf and Country Club on Route 100. Visitors will find refreshments at the Spring Meadows snack bar.

On Saturday September 10th at 10:00 am there is a parade in Millis Ma.. I also believe Sunday September 11th, there is a parade in Greenfield, MA., not sure on the time though.

From the Mailbag:

Please join me in congratulating Car 60 / Tim Cullinan on his promotion to Deputy Chief at Milford Fire.

As most of you probably are aware, Cully is an excellent Incident Commander with a wonderful radio presence. He has been with Milford Fire since 1988 and climbed up through the ranks, making Lt. in 1993, and Capt. in 2003.

Some of you may recall, Cully being referred to as "Mr. Hollywood", as a result of his candid press releases with various media outlets, following incidents where he was the OIC. Well, we are truly looking forward to Tim's tenure as a Chief Officer in the Borough of MACC Base and more publicity for the FD. The Firefighters are in great hands with Tim and the Town of Milford has just beefed up it's fireground management team.

So, Congratulations Cully!! We will be sure to keep an ear out and listen for 20-C-3 on the air, "K".

Sincerely,

SW NH Car 61
