Can't hear certain fire departments very well. Salem, Claremont, Sanford ME, Wells ME



Option, listen to the police for those towns.
Claremont, Sanford, and Wells usually tone out incidents on both the fire and police frequencies. 

Claremont police throws a strong signal into the Manchester/Derry area on 154.845R. Since Manchester PD no longer uses 154.845, this is not a problem.

Sanford police throws a fair signal into the Derry area on 155.310. Although Bedford NH is on this channel, the traffic is no so busy that it causes problems.

Wells police throws a good signal into the Derry area on 155.100. Strong enough that they knock out Milford EMS on 155.100 on my scanner.

Salem police has an excellent signal throughout the area, whereas the fire department signal on 158.8125 is dismal. Although the PD side does not tone out incidents, a cruiser will be dispatched to an fire or accident. Routine police activity is rather high on this channel, so it is not such a great solution.
