January 5, 2008 Public Safety Physical Fitness Symposium
University of New Hampshire on January 5th, 2008. The event is called the 2008 Public Safety
Physical Fitness Symposium and has been developed to help educate public safety personnel
about physical preparedness for on-the-job fitness requirements, including on duty physical
requirements as well as general health and wellness.
It is a one day event discussing how to create a personal fitness program specific to public
safety personnel, how to create an on-duty nutrition plan, and how to develop total body power
and explosive strength for emergency response. The event includes both sit down lectures and
hands on participation of specific exercises and drills.

The Fire Instructors & Officers Association of New
Hampshire has several training programs scheduled in
the near future. All of our classes focus on
real-world timely topics of back-to-basics strategy
and tactics (seminar and hands-on), firefighter
safety and survival, and officer and instructor
development. We strive to bring nationally
recognized speakers and instructors to local venues
at an affordable price on a regular basis, in order
to provide a level of training that may not
otherwise be available to the New Hampshire area
fire service.

Lifesaving Resources announces its 2007 season of Ice Rescue Technician and Train-the-Trainer Courses as follows:

All Lifesaving Resources Ice and Water Rescue training programs are in compliance with NFPA 1670 Standard for Technical Rescue.
The Technician level course includes a 2-hour classroom session, followed by two (2) 2.5-hour on/through-the-ice practical sessions, followed by another 1-hour classroom session. During the 5-hours of practical sessions, students rotate through 20 practical evolutions, five times each, during which time they rotate through each station as a Primary Rescue, a Secondary Rescue, a Victim, a Primary Line Tender, and a Secondary Line Tender.
These courses are open to all Public Safety and Rescue personnel, including Law Enforcement, Fire, Rescue, and EMS Personnel. Participants must be in good physical condition and must be comfortable in deep water while wearing a cold water/ice rescue suits. Participants must bring their own suits for participation, but rental suits are available.
An intensive Ice Rescue Train-the-Trainer Weekend will be conducted, February 16 - 18 at the Boston University's Sargent Center for Outdoor Education. Participants must be sponsored by their departments as designated instructors in order to participate in this weekend program.
